OK, so it sounds like the Snohomish is a hoot this year. I've been fishing the salt, and am thinking of trying the river.

Is there somewhere flat and gentle I can bank-fish the Sno, so I can bring the boys along?

We'd be targeting clipped coho of course. Spoons? Yarn?

If your kids are under 15 years of age take them to soos creek, trib of the green river.
Although you can't fish your youngster should have fun trying fot those large kings.

Sorry its my understanding that they closed soos until oct 15th because of all the snaggin going on there last year by adults. Glad to see it closed though after that seen last year. try douglas bar down on the snohomish should have plenty of room for the kids. Good luck.

Try "Cracker Bar" across from mouth of Sultan. Well, thats actually on the Sky.

Take your kids down to Thomas Eddy, just above Douglas Bar. You can stand with all the other Bankies and show your kids how to effectively snag fish.

The weapon of choice was corky above a large hook, 3-4' of leader with a piece of lead. Cast out, let the line get caught in the oxygen starved coho's mouth, than YANK!

That's what I saw today. Some dude proudly showing his kid how to snag coho.

Actually, please don't do this as I'm just venting. Naturally, you guys wouldn't do this......but I really did see a father teaching his kid how to line fish on the Snohomish this morning. Sickening.

No thanks, I'll pass on exposing the kids to that action. I'll take them to Safeway first. Sounds like a rough crowd, anyway.

Where are the Gameys? Sounds like they could make a few bucks, which they should then use for salmon recovery. Better to "snag" a snagger than tag a legal fisher $90 for not immediately punching his card.

You've got the right idea, Finegrain. I have seen numerous fights, snaggers, and all around bad ethics on the Snohomish. The bank access around Thomas Eddy is somewhat limited and you have to show up early and bring your own spot. Especially on the weekends. Cracker Bar is a good idea. There will be people there but it's a large enough area that they will be much more spread out than the crowds on the Snohomish. Good luck and good fishing.

Hey parker ,Which bankie were you I was there this morning also,You will know who I am when I tell you, all were lining you also if you were the one yanking them out with the same set up next to the Dad and kid ?

I was the guy in the boat with the video camera. Got some great hidden shots of bankies snagging away and keeping the fish. Even got some license plate numbers.

Glad you got some good shots of these dumb a**es. Nothing worse than people taking advantage of the fish, which in turn ruins it for everybody. When you do get a liscense plate number, who do you contact and what can the "athorities" do about this person??
Im not going to bring a video camera with me, but i'll sure as heck take down a # of a poacher.
