We put in a request to NOAA and Pacific Marine fisheries almost 5 years ago, asking that the open a shark hatchery at Hammond. This is the first shark return we have seen. It's hard to tell if the shark is one of the hatchery ones or a native because we could not find anyone willing to clip the fin!

Besides bio. diversity, what would be the desired effects of a shark hatchery? Not flaming, just curious.

The right species (probably Great whites) would feed primarily on pinnipeds and surfers.

Besides bio. diversity, what would be the desired effects of a shark hatchery? Not flaming, just curious. Tongue in cheek humor. Would not mind seeing fewer sea lions on our docks though. Last year they knocked over an electrical panel and set the dock on fire. That cost us a few bucks to repair.

I'm thrilled if it was a Great White, given their preferred diet of pinnepids.
But I'm not at all happy if it turns out to be a Salmon shark, given their preferred diet of .......
Well, you get the point.
