Most of my rods are Midwest Chuck and Duck drift rods (converted Sage/Loomis fly rod or baitcaster blanks) set up for fly reel and mono. The balance are noodles and long rods for running floats. I am really looking for a "West Coast" drift rod that I could use a bait caster on. Would be a hell of a lot easier than stripping all that line on big rivers. More time in the water means more fish.
Would like a two piece that would handle fish in the 8 to 15 pound range, and would use it for fish on the Zipper when I head out your direcion. Any ideas on a rod that I could use for this? Ain't afraid to spend the cash if need be. Thanks for your help.

I see everyone in here has listed Loomis or Lamiglas rods. I pesonally own about 20 loomis rods, but most of them now stay in the rod rack because I have started using Allstar Rods, they have the same numbering system as Loomis, they use the same modulus graphite as in Loomis GL-3's, they have a lifetime warranty, are made in the U.S.A, and the engineer who designed them use to be Gary Loomis's partner. Every where else in the country they are one of the most popular rods out there, but they are just now coming into the northwest. The most attractive thing about the allstar's is there price. You can buy a 1024, 1025, or a 1083 for right around 110.00 to 120.00 retail. you can get the 1262's or 1263's ( my favorite) for right around 140.00. Not a bad deal considering the quality of rod you are getting. just thought I would share the info. Also they are availible at Ted's in Lynnwood.Peace Superfly

Any idea if the Allstar Co. makes the same flyrods that Loomis makes? Also, where are they made?
Thanks,

Steve

Guess we know who the Allstar rep is in Washington...
Anyway, I just got back from some excellent BC steelheading and loved the Loomis 1143 I had made for me. Show me another rod that can throw #3 spinners as far as I want and still have enough backbone to land a 20# steelie. Beautifull rod.

They are made in Houston Texas. There numbering system on the fly rods is a bit different, but they use the same materials and also Have a high end line as well. Check out there website at Http://allstarrods.com and that should help you answer any questions you may have. Please don't tell me you're gonna start talking up All-star rods just like you did the Vision hooks, only to tell us sometime later that you are the rep. Say it ain't so, Joe. Otherwise, your Superfly is down again.

1025 with 15-20 pound test. Big fish, fast water, great touch. The 8&1/2 foot makes for a good winter rod |

I have a number of LOOMIS rods and I believe the 1143 is one of the best LOOMIS rods.I use mine for everything even big kings they have enough backbone. But to my understanding they are not going to make that rod anymore.I dont understand why it is one of the best all around rods.b-b |

The 2001 loomis catalog still contains the 1143c. They use to make an 1144 which was even better.......I'm fortunate to have one in IM6.

I can't believe loomis would quit making the 1141, probably one of there most popular Rods. That would be the Shimano ownership making that call, that's for sure. Peace Superfly
