That's it, I'm giving up on salmon fishing until I get a boat and can find secluded stretches of river. I'm sick of dealing with inconsiderate morons and a serious lack of sporting ethic demonstrated by so-called "fishermen" in North Puget Sound. Not that there aren't decent sportsmen out there, but they are definitely few and far between.

Anybody know a good lake in Snohomish County where I can catch some kokanee from a float tube? Better yet, a place where I can take my wife and toddler for an afternoon of fishing without being harassed by drunks or seeing the worst of fish manglers and deadbeats?

Sorry to vent, but I want my daughter to enjoy the outdoors. Just last weekend I took my family to a local lake. Some "fisherman" was drunk out of his gourd and started hollaring obscenities because he only caught perch. The public access area was posted "No Alcohol" so this moron was drinking whiskey out of a laundry detergent bottle! The view wasn't much better at the local access to the Snohomish River, either.

Good luck. Much of the discussion I see here is how to retaliate (sometimes violently) against people that bother you. That's not the kind of thing I want to instill in my kids. Close-quarters fishing seems to bring out the very worst in people, all for the sake of a few salmon fillets.

I'm going to stick to crabbing and fishing the salt. There's a lot more elbow room out there.

Regards.

Mike

BigD, I have heard of pretty good fishing on lake Steven's in Granite Falls area. I think that the lake has a bunch of Kokanee in it also. You need to check the regs before you go I'm not sure if that lake closes down or not. I've never fished it but have heard some storeies. It's a shame that your daughter had to experience the ignorance of some people. Good luck!
