I have an 6-8 year old food saver vac packer that has been great, but this last year or so has it not drawing all the air out like it used to. Seems like it is losing power, still runs but just doesn't get that last bit of air out which is no good. Does anybody know if its repairable, or worth the time to even try? If it is indeed dying, I am looking at replacing it with one of those nice cabelas commercial ones, let me know if you have any experience with these as well. thanks!

Food saver fan here......Long time user.....I don't know if this is your problem but a "new pair of rubber sealers" and mine works like new.

Can buy from lots of places BUT I'd stay with Food Saver.....

I have Vacmaster Chamber Sealer. With ~300 bags through it, I am pleased so far. $.05 a bag is hard to beat too.

+1 expect to replace the seal before the unit.

if you do replace I would look at the vacmaster vp215 have just shy of 2500 bags through mine and it doesn't skip a beat. Plus they have come down a bit in price since I bought mine.

+1 x 2 on the seal. I haven't replaced my seal yet, but often just wet the seal and will seal just fine.
