Lions Mane and Sea Nettles foul gear and sting. Other jellyfish just foul the gear. Anyone come up with a quick way to remove or repel these critters, parts, and pieces?

Manual Penn downriggers here.

I'm using paper towels soaked in distilled vinegar.

Best I've figured out is a terry cloth. costco sells a big pack of yellow ones for detailing cars... works for me. Still a pain in the arse, but better than doing it by bare hand and getting stung.

Old toothbrush, the stiff abrasive kind.

Funny how we got a reprieve from those nasty brown jellies for a few years here at Westport.

They came back with a vengeance last summer.

Dry paper towel works well. Multiple uses from one sheet unless it is really a mess. Jelly tentacle barbs stick to the paper. Lay the swivel on a hard surface and wipe it off.
