I fished the Sol Duc all weekend from the hatchery down to whitcomb-dimmell, and was only able to get 3 silvers and a couple of jacks. There were tons of fish in the river and they were rolling and jumping everywhere. They just would not bite anything ,we plugged ,we used hardware,we drifted eggs, nothing seem to work well. Why is this????? Any thoughts??????

Was the water low and clear? Tons of boats? Lot's of bankies? Though nothing is ever a given, those factors can definitely play into success. Sometimes, stealth and scaled down (or up) presentations make all the difference.

Then again, sometimes they just won't bite; no matter who you are or what you do. Sometimes, you just have to deal with it!

Eric there was fairly heavy boat traffic, but only 1 or 2 per hole on the whole float. The water was low and we scaled down our presentations. I tried small clusters of eggs on my noodle rod w/6lb test, and the only thing that got was jacks. Caught the adult fish on hammered spoons in green and blue. With the amount of fish in the river it should have been better.
