Has anyone had a chance to try out the new EON from abu-garcia?Just curious how they rate.TM

I don't think they have hit the market yet. Haven't seen them in any shops and if you order them from Cabelas or Basspro they back order. Sounds like there is a big push to get them out for Christmas gifts.

Stay with what you have or go to a much better reel......Shimano, either the Curado, my choice, or the Culcatta. Both have super drag systems...........and they both come either "left or right" handed.

They should have them at the sportsmen show for sure. I look them up on the computer and seem to be a good working reel. The amount of money will tell me if it is worth getting.

It said retail was going to be 109.95.

Drifter, The Curado is my favorite reel too. I doubt that I will be replacing my Curado with the EON but I do like to try new gear and this reel has an innovative design based on planetary gears. They do come right or left handed.
Timberman, I see on the abu-garcia web page the suggested retail price is $109.95 but at Basspro and Cabelas they are $99.95.
