I saw this on another forum.
Not sure if I’m ready to lay down kind of coin on wading boots, considering I get three years at the most out of them due to oysters and barnacles.

$500 bucks! Yikes - Pattagucci strikes again!

Although the full one piece leather uppers are a nice & robust touch.

Still....$500 bucks!

Will have to check them out. Still would have preferred Danner bring back the River Gripper, the best wading boot ever made.

All the fishermen who taught me how to fish loved those and cursed their discontinuation.

Id be curious how much those old Danner wading boota were. Any ideas?

Around $150 bucks.
Here is an interesting review.

"Read before buying!
I want to preface this by saying that I've never left a negative review for a product and that I'm not trying to talk poorly about Patagonia at all. I really admire them as a company and have many items from them that I love.

First up, the fit of these boots is pretty crazy. I have a very average size 9 foot, not wide, not narrow, just straight up average. I almost pulled the trigger on a size 9 but thought I'd try out the "what's my size" feature on the product page. I went through the exercise twice (using two different shoes as a reference) and it told me I should order a size 10 both times. I decided to ignore this as I've never worn a size 10 in anything and went with the size 9. The boots arrived yesterday and the size 9 is absolutely ginormous! I've got the laces cranked down as tight as can be, to the point where I feel like I'm going to break something, and the sides of the boot are almost touching in the center on top of the tongue. This is with two pairs of thick socks and a pair of Simms neoprene booties on my feet. With that said, the length is actually ok but the volume is just crazy.

I'm not able to return them, and in hopes of finding some fit redemption from amazing traction, I took them out on the river yesterday evening. I couldn't have been more let down. The hike in is about half a mile down a pretty steep hill, similar to climbing a ladder at some points. The boots were a little sketchy on the approach, but no boot really excels at this and I decided to accept this fact for these boots as well. I was relived to reach the water and finally give them a shot for what they were made for. I don't expect miracles from my boots, but last night I felt like I was literally walking on ice, I think sandals would have provided better traction! I live in Washington state where large slick (non slimy) boulders are the norm and these things straight up failed. I was in the water more times last night from falls that I had been in the last couple of years combined. I'm a pretty strong wader but was all over the place with these things on, at one point my wife actually asked what was wrong with me as she's never seen me so out of control while wading, it was bad. I did notice that once I got on more baseball size rocks they worked just fine but on anything larger there was zero traction.

Needless to say I'm super disappointed in these boots, especially given all the outstanding reviews, I'm not even sure what to do with them now. There's no way I'm going back out on the water with them but I'd feel terrible even giving them away to someone else. Maybe the traction system works well in other parts of the world, but I have no use for them around the PNW.

Again, I'm not trying to bash Patagonia at all, I just wish I would have read a review like this before I purchased them, I hope this helps someone out."

I love my Danner work boots!!! Maybe I'll replace the sole with felt, and save 450 dollars.

Stones, they ought to pay you for a torture test on those "River Salt Wading Boots".

You can separate the wheat from the chaff, there is no doubt.

I read that same review, but went with the purchase on the recommendation of a trusted friend.

First the review is about the current "Foot Tractor" boot, the reigning precursor to the Danner/Patagonia collaboration. Gotta admit I was skeptical of the idea of aluminum bars on the bottoms of my boots, but seeing is believing.

I recently put mine to the test in Alaska, wading the Kenai and Russian Rivers in unseasonably HIGH flows. All I can say about their grip on the slick rocky riverbottom is I have NEVER felt more fearless and invincible in strong current than I did wearing these boots. 100% ROCK SOLID TRACTION!

Fit is fantastic. Foot entry and exit... EFFORTLESS, best I've EVER had.

The downsides?

1) Laces. I've gotten used to the BOA system snowboarders use. But that's really just personal preference.

2) Poor drainage.... and unless inverted with open air circulation on a sunny day or mounted on a PEET Boot Dryer... they take a LONG time to dry.

Think about it.... NOTHING stickier on rocks than a bare aluminum driftboat bottom

Here's what they looked like after a 2-day break in period...

Thanks for the feedback. I am just a skeptic when in comes to the combination of rubber and metal on mossy muddy rocks. Even aluminum. I know Danner is probably the highest quality boots made. Being old fashioned I think nothing exists better that studded felt soles and that 's what I use. I wish that combination was an offering for this new boot. I also understand the organism transfer risk that comes with felt. I like to think I am responsible enough to continue using studded felt. When I was younger I may have, but today I am not willing to risk my life with anything else.
