My fishing partner is looking at buying a jet-sled that has an Evinrude 115hp Turbo-jet in it.Doe's anyone know if they are good reliable drive units?I understand they don't make them anymore and he is afraid of parts availability if he should have a break down.Thanks,lester

What year is the motor? Is it the blue colored two-stage (two impeller) lower jet unit? How much is the seller asking?
Personally I would stay away from any jet lower unit other than the Speciality Manufacturing model. These SM units are simple, time tested, bullet-proof pumps that are very common and therefore have excellent parts availability. If you're still interested I would suggest you make a very low-ball offer based on the obsolete lower unit. Good Luck.

The motor is a 1995 model.It is the inboard jet not the outboard jet like Specialty Manufacturing makes.It is an outboard power head mounted inboard with an Evinrude pump like the Mercury Sport-Jet.They are asking 10,000 for the Weldcraft Boat.Thanks,lester

Sorry, Les. When you said 115 Evinrude, an outboard immediately came to mind. Yes,the inboard Two-strokes are more efficient than their outboard counterparts because they utilize two-stage pumps. If the boat is 18' or better I would say thats not a bad deal. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies TJN.You are right, we went for a ride on the 22nd and the boat performed great.The hull is a 16 ft Weldcraft center console jet boat set up real nice with a 8hp Honda kicker.My friend bought it for 10,000.00.I thought he got a pretty good deal.Happy Thanksgiving,lester
