Anyone doing anything on the Nisqually yet? I hear that the nets are in. Does that mean that the fish are coming in? Thanks

Osprey,(or anyone else)
I was at the Satsop 2 weeks ago for the first time ever. The water was real low where I fished. I was by the boat launch about 5 or 6 miles up from the freeway. I have heard that the fishing is better up by Scheafer park, on the east fork. Is that true?

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Billy Bob,

That's not always the case, but it has been this year due to the lack of water. Usually by this time of year the satsop is above 2000 cfs, and last I checked it was flowing at a measly 450 cfs. There have been decent numbers of fish up around Schaeffer park, but there's always a lot of guys fishing up there. Hope for rain, and maybe we'll see some decent fishing for the hooknosers.

Fish on.........

Yes, there are a few fish. A few were caught today below the cement bridge, and the Indians are netting a few nice fish. Give it a week (or two) and some rain.

Billy Bob, I did decent Sunday afternoon a couple of miles down river from Shafer Park, near the "S" curves...hooked 8, landed 4 up to 20 lbs on my 7 weight flyrod. Last one for the day was the biggest...had to quit because I couldn't pick my arm up to cast anymore after a 40 minute tussle.

Hey BillyBob, the tribe will run their nets from July until the end of January. This is an every-year occurance. Nets are in on Sunday at noon and taken out on Wednesday at noon. As far as the dogs go, have seen several rolling but haven't seen any taken yet. These are just the "early-birds" with an anticipation of things starting to get hot in about 2 weeks. Of course rain will help for there are several tributaries off the Nisqually where the dogs will spawn that are still too low. I am checking every day on my way home after work. Osprey and BigJim, when they show will let ya know. Keep those new lines tight...Tom
