I've got some new maglips collecting dust in their packages after a spring chinook trip didn't pan out. Has anybody had any luck on the coho with these things? Or, should we just stick to warts & wigglers?

I have used them successfully in deeper water. Same color patterns as the smaller plugs.

Get some "twitching jigs" 3/8 or 1/2 oz......gear up with some "30 or 40 hi vis braid"..........put those plugs away!!!!!!!

@DrifterWa - The twitching jigs thing sure has caught on fire lately. It is definitely on my list as far as learning to fish out of the drift boat this year. The only issue is the visibility in the Nooksack. I'm not sure if the water is right, especially right now. I hear it is a great technique and we will be trying it this season.

We're still cutting our teeth, and this will be the first fall that we have access to a boat. So our training wheels are still on.

The tips are appreciated.

Double trouble and Firetiger ML works for me.... Try and find current that is walking speed or less.

I have fished them when both kings and silvers are present in the river at the same time... I have cught many kings but never a silver on a maglip.

Maybe someone else has had a different experience but I know there better plugs and dozens of more effective techniques to target silvers.

I like hotshots, k11's, and tad's for silvers. The mag lips have decent action and good depth in the slower to medium speed water that silvers frequent, but are a little on the big side for most silvers I think. I fish them for kings in a couple of spots that bigger kwiks wont run well, but I don't think I have ever hooked a fish on one.

Thanks for the info. I've a few wiggle worts, wigglers, maybe a hotshot or two, and a new Lindy River Rocker. I'll deploy them and let the Maglips stay in their box until I can get after some kings.

I'll vouch for the effectiveness of MagLips for coho.

I have destroyed the silvers on the Nooch with one that I call Baskin and Robins. It's a pink multi colored monstrosity. I relace the trebles with gami 510 hooks. I'll try them soon on the OP when My vacation starts next week. 23 days off starting Monday. banana

Another one is a green and silver one as well as one with a pink butt.

BTW... metallic blue is a magnet for the freshest chromest fish in the run. In my experience, it's virtually impossible to catch an ugly fish on metallic blue!
