I hauled out of work early and found myself at Summit Lake, which is just outside of Olympia.
I was hoping to find the hot smallmouth bass fishing some folks talk about, but, as usual, the yellow perch caught my attention.
The deeper weedbeds -- about six feet deep near docks -- were full of perch, and some of them were pushing 10 to 12 inches. I was fishing a sinking line and a sparkle olive Woolly Bugger.
Life was good -- until my waders popped their first leak.
More on my blog....
