Awesome chironomid action. I'm sure a few of the fish were taken on Philip Rowley's "Chromie", my favorite chironomid pattern by a long shot.

Guess I missed this the first time around. I must not have caught the Black Betty reference in the title although I don't think that was Ram Jam singing in the video. laugh

Just finished a chironomid trip. I purposely fished deep, using two new techniques--using long leaders (with floating lines) and full sinking lines and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

That fish was bigger than most Washington coho.

I totally dug the fish that jumped 4 feet outta the water at about the 3 min mark. Not the biggest fish but I give merit for athleticism and acrobatics. Man I miss BC.

Great video.
i've had folks tell me before that chironomid fishing is boring, which is bs in my book. They make up over half a stillwater trout's diet.

Dave,
I've been have lots of luck this spring as well fishing long leaders in deep water with and without an indicator. Thank god for quick release indicators!
