My mother in law asked me what I wanted for Christmas today. She went on to say that they weren't going to go over 75.00 or so. Coincidentally I was @ fred meyer earlier this morning and saw 8'6" lamiglas rods (8-12#) for 70 bucks. Are these things any good? I told her that I'd love one of those rods. You never can have enough rods ya know. After seeing them @ Fred's I went to lamiglas.com and looked for them and they don't even list them as a product. To make a long story short, are these rods any good. The only lami I've ever had was a certified pro that I broke on a fish on the Deschutes in Oregon. How do these rods compare with other rods in that pricerange (shimano, berkely)?

Don't get one of them fred meyer lamiglas rods. They look bad and they are cheap. With there green blanks. rofl

I don't even think that lamiglas makes them rods that are sold at Fred meyer. I have not even found one at there shop in woodland.

Have her go down to Lamiglas in woodland and pick one up a real lamiglas rod down there.

I buy there seconds all the time in there shop for 50 to 80 dollars and I have yet to brake one. I just went down there and picked one up that had a small gold paint mark on the blank. $60 bucks. A brand new Norwest Special rod.

Joes is having a sale on there lamiglas 500 models for $99 bucks.

the cheap ones are not as sensitive, but are far stronger. i have broke several expensive lamiglas rods, but have never broke a northwest special . the berkely im7 is also a really tough rod for the money. cabelas makes a really tough and cheap rod as well.

For the type of money your talking about, you can't go wrong with a Cabela's Fish Eagle II rod. They have seveal Steelhead/Salmon rod sizes to choose from. I've have several, and only have snapped one on a fish, and that was my falt anyway. I think they have a special now when you by two or more. Good luck.

Egg goober, Yes that is too far to get just a rod. Stick it in the "for sale" section on here and someone closer will snap it up. Thanks for the reply.

I have seen the same rod that you are talking about and thought that it was a misprint. I asked an old timer that i know that deals directly with lami and he said that these rods are made by lami but they were mass produced mainly for Fred Meyer but some other retail stores carry them. He said that the main difference is that these rods DO NOT carry a warranty, glad I asked before i purchased. Hope this helps.
