If they were small about the size off poppy seeds they could be Herring eggs.
They also could be Candle Fish eggs.

A lot of critters spawn that way in the marine environment. My best guess is squid which are spawning now or possibly another big mollusck like a nudibranch (sea slugs).

Now is the middle of the herring spawning season in South and Central Sound so my guess is herring.

Herring spawn on eelgrass, sandlance (candlefish) spawn on fine beach sand, so likely they are herring eggs - it is right in the middle of herring spawning season. Are these eggs clear, or with maybe a little hint of a dark larvae in them?. If so, herring for sure. Time to get out the herring jig and stock up for springer season laugh

went down to the place where I found them after I relied to this post and there was a tide change. I think I caught the latter part of the outgoing tide. the herring were trapped close to shore on a ledge because it was low tide, birds getting them. but there was so many of them. didnt have my fly rod but brought a krocodile spoon and was fishin it like a buzz bomb and had a 5-6 lb follower to the waters edge. seen one troller in the distance. but there was sure alot of bait.

has anybody been fishin colvos passage. maybe there tucked in there some where. maybe if its nice on saturday I'll fish fragaria and richmond point. tight lines Ben
