What types of knots do you use and what situations do you use them in?

I don't use a whole lot of different knots -- I started out usin the uni-knot fer just about everything.

Also like the 'Trilene' knot (improved double clinch).

Really like the Palomar knot cuz it seems to work well with non-mono lines (i.e. Berkley Fireline etc.), high breaking strength and easy, or should I say easier, to tie w/numb fingers.

Never really had the patience for the blood knot.

Almost forgot the bumper snell or egg loop snell, one of MY most frequently used knots.
Really appreciate the tip bout usin more wraps on this one -- it does seem to help.

Never really liked the sliding mooching rig fer saltwater, prefer the fixed hook set-up.

Happy holidays to all

Sincerely,
Roger

Sounds about right. I use the Palomar and Trilene almost exclusively, and the egg snell for the hooks.

Ever tried a Bimini twist?

The rivers inlet Knot is the strongest knot i've ever used for mainline to swivel and leader to swivel. VERY STRONG! :thumbs

There have been days I've lived on a blood knot...perfect knot for adding line to your reel. I change my main line fairly frequently, but only the last 2/3. The bottom 1/3 stays the same...attached by the blood knot

I too use a blood knot a lot, although I don't tie mine anything like on that site, I tie them like 2 improved clinch knots on the opposing line.

I use the blood knot instead of a swivel in small, snaggy stream, as it saves money and is about as strong any anything. Quicker than tying two improved clinch knots too.

I have found a way to tie those solid tie mooching rigs so that the trailing hook doesn't get cut off in the eye of the front hook, just tie a base of leader on the front hook using the bumper knot - that way the trailer line won't pull down into the eye and break off thumbs
