In the post about the boat on the Hoh River comments were made about the net that was on that boat being bad for catch and release fishing. What makes a good CnR net and what makes a net bad for CnR?

Thanks for the tip,
lobo

You'll find an example at the bottom of this site. Around $60. A quick search will provide you with more info as well beer

yeah..... its sad when there is something as tragic as a boat accident and yet the only thing people worry about is the net they were using fridge

Actually Matt, there's a lot more to the story than that from what I hear now ... stay tuned wink

Lobo ... good C&R nets don't really work like a net when used properly, rather it should work more like a seine that simply surrounds the fish.

Tight mesh, knotless, soft and non-absorbant materials work best.

Bag is also very shallow and doesn't come to a cone ... it has a flat bottom sewn in.

Nets fitting this description allow you to "trap" the fish in many instances much sooner than bringing it into the shallows and makes release very easy in most cases.
