Karma strikes again!

If your friend needs some elk steaks, or some ground elk, stew meat, jerky meat (uncured), let me know. I have plenty to share.

Andy

Sorry about the a-hole.

H2h,
I would give that elk to your friend who is on a wheel chair. He took the first shot and knocked the animal down to the ground and he was on his way to finishing his job.

No brainer... I would trade an elk for an 06 anyday.. The jerk has the elk but he will be the loser in this story for the rest of his life... his freinds will make fun of him forever...

I was offering the elk meat as a freebie, trying to build up my Karma. No rifle as payment is necessary, unless you really want to. wink

The rifle is now your buddy's, unless you or he can figure out who the a-hole is and a way to get it back to him. Otherwise, sight it in and use it, or sell it in the classifieds and give the money to charity.

I agree with Andy mostly. If I couldn't track the guy down and arrange a trade of all elk meat for the gun I'd either keep the gun or sell it (but I'd keep the money).
What the guy did was a BS move. The fact that he did it to a guy in a wheelchair makes me wonder how he can sleep at night.
The above situation is why I took my big game hunting out of state for the last four years. There are too many people around here and too many people with loose morals in the hills.

Sounds like the guy believes in "finders keepers." He found an elk and claimed it. Your buddy found a rifle and claimed it. I would consider it a payback for the stolen elk. What kind of loser wants to tag an elk that someone else shot?

The way I see it, the B*stard stole the elk and lost his rifle. Karma is a B*tch!

I would definatly keep the rifle. My dad had an elk stolen from him a few years back so I know how it feels. I would have gladly taken the guy's rifle.

Touchy problems here. The guy who "stole the elk" is legal, in the eyes of the state. He is by no means ethical though and needs a good butt kicking. Your friend who "found" the rifle in his truck could be accused of stealing it if he does not make an attempt to find the owner. My question is why in the heck did your friend help the guy out? I am assuming that is how the rifle ended up in the truck. I would have left him to pack the sucker out and went looking for a few tires that needed some air let out. Over inflated tires sure are not good on rocky roads. evil

If he's going to return it, he should mail it to the guy...in pieces.

Unfortunately there are a bunch of a$$hole's out there for some reason when it comes to Elk Hunting they have no ethics or morals whatsoever. We had the same thing happen down at Grays River two years ago where a group shot three elk after tearing down "No Hunting without Permission Signs" and then taking a 6x6 away from a Handicapped Hunter who had permission to hhunt the land. So I have no compasion for the "Slob Hunter" and yes I would return the rifle to the individual in pieces only after I had wrapped said rifle two or three trees as payment for his fine courteous treatment to the handicapped hunter.

What a jerk to take that elk away from your buddy. No room on earth for that kinf of BS. I am also interested how the rifle got into the truck as well. I saw it on cops once where a guy had property of some guy and was keeping it because the guy didn't pay him. The guy was sited for taking the guy's property and had a theft charge to go iron out in Court. If you would like to make it s ***** for the guy to get his gun back take it to the police department and turn it in as lost property and there should be a waiting period for someone to come forth and then the gun is yours. Who wants a gun under those circumstances any way. The hunting gods and fishing gods can make things very interesting, only time will tell that tale.
