Only my oldest boy's and my deer tag left to fill after today. My 10 year old dropped his doe after the 11:00am timeline passed. He couldn't shoot a doe until after 11am, and we had only seen 15 does and 1 buck to that point. The buck we saw was one we helped another dad and his daughter drag out from a 200 yard deep hole. Met a lot of nice folks today, dads with their kids.

Ryan made a 93 yard shot with the 6.8 SPC, it's both of their 2nd kills.

The cool thing is that Ryan wanted to help skin it, so I started the job and let him take over after I got the back legs started.

..and Ryan's friend even helped out.

Hunter took a nice blue grouse, so it was an awesome day with the boys.

Dogfish----That is very cool. My boys are coming into that time and I am really looking forward to it (my daughter has a few years). They have helped me skin and gut my deer/elk but not their own. I love how they think having blood on ones hands isn't gross, and that from a young age they know meat doesn't come magically from the store or styrofoam. Everything tastes better when it's been done by you and for you with the care and respect deserved.

Good luck on the last 2 tags.

Way Cool DF!
I love seeing kids grow into sportsmen.
Very refreshing to know that they are learning that meat has four legs not four corners.
Good on you Bud.
I always feel twice as successful seeing my kid score.
Magic, simply magic.

Proud papa!
Your pictures show a story of young people with more widsom about life and living than a dozen PETA zombies could ever hope to have. You have obviously layed a good foundation. Congrats on the deer and the kids!

Nicely done Dogfish. I can't wait to take my kid hunting with me. thumbs

Looks like you got him a nice rifle too. I wish I had something like that when I was a kid. Well done!
