I have been seeing many many more deer in a past 2 weeks than the rest of the year. Is it because the moms are kicking the babies out of the house or the buck are claiming territory and kicking others out or is because of heat and in search of water?

I haven't bought new glasses if you are wondering laugh

I think that the deer are just moving around a lot more right now. I've been seeing a lot of deer lately as well. Lots along the side of the road.

This time of year there are always lots of deer out in the open where they are easy to see. I think it has to do with what they are eating.

It's the time of year. The does have all dropped their fawns, and the bucks are all trying to avoid heavy cover due to their soft antlers. I actually think the does feel safer from predators out in the open? Just a guess there. Basically every year at this time you will see a lot of deer out in the open.

They are nocternal so the longer days mean you will see them more. Secondly I think their fawns cannot negotiate the real thick brambles yet. And last the older fawns specifically young bucks have been kicked out by the does to make room for the new ones. They are wandering around looking for small herd mates.

All of the above, but also this time of year the deer turn that redish copper color so they are mutch more notaceable.

We took a drive up in an area we plan on hunting this year on friday. We saw 9 deer, 3 grouse, 3 rabbits, 3 doves, an eagle, and a 3 point bull elk. We only drove about 19 miles or about 2.5 hours, up into the woods. This will be our first year hunting this area and I think we will be happy with it. Jay is right about the deer stanind out. I spotted one standing in the middle of a clear cut at about 300 yards in full sun light. It looked like an elk with all the light reflecting off it. We got video of all but 2 of the deer. I have been seeing tons of rabbits this year. A lake I fish has a small herd of about a dozen right on the boat launch. I don't know what a bunch of rabbits is called other then dinner, so a herd works. evil Good luck this year all.
