It looks like the bull was going to knock his hat off with a tine for a second.

FishRanger and I were in the elk this year, 10-25 yards from elk three days in a row. Good fun right there.

The lady that lives next to my dad stuck a dandy 6X6; 330-340.

She said she was actually concerned the arrow wouldn't have been off the string by the time it hit the bull, so she had to take a step back before releasing. She says that put the shot at about 1.5 yards.

She had been following a wel used trail, when all of a sudden she saw the bull coming down the trail towards her. She hunkered off to one side and it walked right up to her. Never knew she was there.

My best was having a 4pt buck bump the arrow off my rest with his nose as he walked up to investigate me. He hauled a$$ after poking his nose on the broadhead and I never got a shot.

I shot a doe at five yards- called her in and stood nose to nose with her before she walked around the black berry patch for a closer inspection. As she came around the right side on the only trail, I watched the arrow slide through her ribs, point blank, as if it were in slow motion. I hadn't intended on shooting a doe but the whole exchange seemed too perfect to not to see it through to the end.

I have made many long and medium range shots that aren't nearly as satisfyingly memorable.

I have had elk that close but never in the correct configuration- bulls at ten yards when cow only or cows at ten yards when spike only.

Someday.

I had a big bull come in on a dead run to the jack pine I was sitting under a couple minutes after spraying some cow in heat scent, Could of touched his nose with an arrow if I hadn't been so worried about being his bitch, he had love in his eyes. No chance at a shot.
