Why not go with a lami?

ISS 126 2ML 10'6" 2 pc. 6-10# 1/8-1/2 $54.00

Cert pro
XSH 126 2ML 10'6" 2 pc. 6-10# 1/4-3/4 $148.00
XSH 144 3M 12' 2 pc. 6-12# 3/8-3/4 $162.00

I haven't fished with any of these particular rods, but I'd think they would fit the bill... I can try to dig up some other options if you want... Just figured I'd take the time to look around... Rainshadow has a few options in those longer lengths, but they are predominantly heavier action rods... Might be able to whip somethin up out of a spey blank?! Have you tried actually talking to the guys at loomis about getting your desired blank?

ive owned almost every lami ever made literaly
and they dont make a rod that i like for the use it will be for. i already own a gl3 10'6" but im looking for a longer rod and ive looked into like every rod and loomis has what i want in length and feel. but its the float rod and they wont sell me a blank even for twice the price as the spinning rod. I assume deerslayer is speaking of that 12'4" one... decent float rod, just a little too much for me.

ive been using 10'6" rods forever sence i was 15, im 21 now. and i never get tired of it. but i make sure im in shape for the task. but they have gotten to where they just feel to short. and i would like to go to a longer rod.

i've been looking into the 11'4" and the 12'4" i think it was. but they are alot of money for me to spend on a spinning rod which would never get used to turn around and sell for half the price.

the thing is that there are alot of rods i can get in that length and close to weight. but they all feel like crap. loomis makes a nice feeling rod thats for sure. ijust wish that they would sell me a blank, i've offered to pay 600 for just the blank. NOW no way would i ever pay that price. but the offer was there to see if they would sell.

anyway time for bed, gotta get up early to chase them lock jaw silvers,

lamiglas' 2007 catalog came out recently, they now make 2 13' 3 piece cert. pro bobber rods, one is an ultralight action and the other is a medium i think.

on the other hand, they axed the esprit series and replaced with the XMG50 series, which has those retarded graphite hand grips that'll surely freeze your fingers off in the winter.

You used to be able to buy the blank from Gloomis Canada when you could not get it in the USA. Try contacting JC Custom tackle. He may be able to get you the blank your looking for. I know its a hassle but might be able to get what you want

Have you thought about buying a Batson blank?

Re: loomis rod blanks (edited) - 10/25/06 03:12 PM

Deerslayer, buy the rod you want and have it wrapped with the guides you want on it. I have changed guides on a lot of rods. No big deal and problem solved.(might even find someone to buy the spinning guides you remove.)

Re: loomis rod blanks (edited) - 10/25/06 05:38 PM

thought of having it rewrapped but it will leave marks on the rod from where the old guides were located. and i dont want that. my fishing gear has to be pure perfection lol

but yeah im kinda down and out on the whole deal and will go with a lesser rod.

its obvious loomis wouldnt work with someone that has baught over 50 of their rods in the past 8 years. i guess my buisness isnt worth it to them to hook me up with a blank. w/e

Re: loomis rod blanks (edited) - 10/25/06 07:18 PM

oh hey who edited my title GRRR lol thats not fair.

cause i called loomis today and asked them about buying the rod blanks in bulk, like 10 at a time. cause im sure there are people that would like to buy these rods wrapped in a casting version and the guy was very very rude with me. and basicly told me i was wasting my time. if its not on the website then dont bother asking for it.

so NOW i can rightfully say loomis sucks. they even had me in there w/e for buying their rods. ive baught 20 or some right from them.

oh well. cant complain to much, i found what i want. well at least close to it.

thanks for all the imput and info from all you. smile

goodluck with all your fishing trips,

P.S. i ordered us some rain for next week. YES!!!!!!!!!

I edited your thread title.

I believe one should be careful saying a company "sucks" just because you can't get exactly what you want from them.

If Loomis doesn't offer you a product that fits your needs, then move on and find another company that does. It's that simple.

Re: loomis rod blanks (edited) - 10/25/06 08:04 PM

not really. i voiced my opinion. if i titled it loomis rocks it wouldnt have been edited. but as soon as anything negative apears its wrong to say so.

not a big deal. im getting sorta what i want, and its from the company that i trust.

Wouldn't your arm or shoulder go bad after casting a a 11-13 foot rod all day? I use a couple of 10 footers, I'm not sure who makes the blank probably Loomis or Lami and a 10 ft 6 in Rainshadow TH. All of them are counterweighted in the butt. Makes it easy on my arm and shoulder.

Re: loomis rod blanks (edited) - 10/25/06 11:53 PM

um i work out alot to make sure i dnt have to worry about that.

i use to cast my dads old fenwick noodle rod, that thing is way heavy and its 12'6". its alot heavier then most of the rods out today.

but yeah im a beast when it comes to casting. and even my 10'6" rods i have are starting to feel short just cuase of how use to them i am now.
