Meh, It will sprinkle. They'll send "Danger Jim" Foreman out to the coast and the few remaining leaves will fall from the trees.

Danger Jim will end up doing a story on how lonely the the Westport boat basin looks in a drizzle.

Been a while since I have been blown off of the river. It's time to consider your options when your float is being blown up river. Did you find any willing fish in this mess?

Couldn't get out to wet a line due to hospital obligations, but did get another chance to sneak out to the beach for another limit of razors... just in the nick of time.

South wind probably kicked up to 30-35 knots with stronger gusts as f4b and I left the beach this afternoon.

I saw something posted about sustained winds of 50-60 with gusts to 90+ mph on the OR Coast.

Re: Time to start building the ark.... - 11/15/09 11:22 PM

Close on our coast as well for the wind forecast ... 3 inches now here in Forks, and the winds are just really starting to go with some serious rain after a couple of hours of slightly mellower weather ...

Re: Time to start building the ark.... - 11/16/09 03:59 PM

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR SMALL STREAMS IN... CLALLAM COUNTY... JEFFERSON COUNTY... MASON COUNTY... GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY...

* UNTIL 1115 PM PST TUESDAY.

* AT 1117 AM PST HEAVY RAIN OVER THE OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS WILL CAUSE WIDESPREAD HIGH WATER... INCLUDING FLOODING... ON SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS OF THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED. STREAM RISES WILL BE SLOW AND FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED. HOWEVER... ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS IMMEDIATELY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVY RAINS COULD TRIGGER LANDSLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WARNED AREA. HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO FALL THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT BEFORE TAPERING TO SHOWERS DURING THE DAY TUESDAY. RIVERS WILL REMAIN HIGH... IN SOME CASES FLOODING ADJACENT AREAS... THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS... AND PONDING OF WATER ON COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

Glad I made it out there before the river went. It seemed the harder it rained and blew yesterday, the more willing the coho were! I think I need an automatic bailing pump in the driftboat.

LOL Reminds me of 1996. Scrambling like a looter to the WSLCB store and 4 of us bringing out an armload each and making it back before the highway closed. 4 couples cooped up in a house for 3 days straight with a few decks of cards and a lot of mixer. Passing out on top of each other.

3 1/4" in my rain guage since yesterday afternoon(Montesano). It is an absolute DELUGE as I type this. Then, the fun begins tonight around 10 when the sustained 50+ mph winds kick in.

Generator full of gas......check.
Power cords ready........check.
Candles ready..............check.
Matches/flashlight.........check.
Cell phone alarm
to wake up in morning.....check.
Whiskey & Coke in
good supply..................check.

Hope everyone comes through it one piece!

Pretty tame here right now, light rain and very little wind, but it must be warm and raining up high because the river has come up far more than predicted. Had to hook a strap on the jet boat and just pull it up into the yard to above the high tide mark.

I'm doing fine, but man did we have a big blow for a couple hours last night, one tree broke half way up and down she came. We've had no power since 10 last night, so down here at the 1504 coffee shop I sit to drink my coffee and read a little internet. I'll swing by your place and check on all your new debris I'm sure you have laying in the yard.

Re: Time to start building the ark.... - 11/17/09 01:07 PM

It was a non event here, not much wind at all and only rained somewhat hard for very short time last night. The river is up with some small stuff floating down, but it only came to about the same point it did a couple of weeks ago (which is pretty high).

Re: Time to start building the ark.... - 11/17/09 05:14 PM

The sky cleared for a break. The wind kicked up again and it's once again pouring in my neck of the woods.

Whole trees came down earlier, on dialup to check the weather and reports.

It's not Thanksgiving until there are reports of chum crossing the roads, locally. Wonder how the new Hwy 101 bridge in the Skok Valley will effect the fish.
