Try and keep the same height for the seat. You will like a swivel base, which you can buy any tackle store for 8-10 bucks. Most of the plastic seats have mounting holes, but if they dont match up, go to Tacoma screw or McLendons and buy some Truss head machine screws and drill completely thru the seat and mount that to swivel. 1/4 inch is more than enough. Truss heads are low profile. As long as the seat doesnt have a lot of contour, they heads should lie flats and not catch on your pants or waders. 3/16 is a little smaller head. Put a stainless steel nylock and a small flat washer, to reduce long term rust and keep the nuts snug. If the surface does not mate well to the swivel base you would need to make a wood spacer to spread the weight out. Ive seen other tractors seats, so I would imagine that its not hard to mount.

If the height factor wont allow for the spacer or swivel just get the same machine screws and drill into the bench.

Why would you want the rowers seat to swivel?

DFNW, mine swivels, (and is on a pedistal, not a bench seat) so I can simply turn 90* without getting up, and go from rowing to sidedrifting, and back...

I stored my rods and my rope and net in the back area. I also had a full back- flip down padded boat seat for rowing. Worked great.

I use a full sized folding swivel seat, it doesn't hinder my ability to row and at the end of the day I feel much better due to the back support.

I mounted a new seat on the Clack last year, and raised it a bit by going to TAP Plastics and had some starboard rails cut to make a seat mount. Worked great.

I was thinking about one of these seats.

There is a high back and a low back, a little pricey maybe though,

if your back is giving you problems rowing, I have used a "on person" back wrap. I dont think a back rest type seat would be a good idea in a drifter. Just for reaction type situations. Not that a farmer would put a driftboat seat in a tractor...I guess the height of a tractor seat is low cut.

That one style with the drain hole also comes in a low back version.
