Best anchor lock for 14' aluminum boat in salt? - 06/22/10 12:30 AM

Saw the Leelock, but man its expensive at 130.00. Is there something comparable and just as durable?

Hood Canal,lakes,inshore Puget Sound,etc.

Thanks!

I'm sure the scotty anchor lock is just a toy?

You dont need a leelock. Scotty makes one in plastic that would probably work and Ive seen another thats made from in steel and chromed.

Both come with a stop lock. I have a cam lock thats brand new that would work, but they run about 40 bucks new. Id want at least 20 for it. plus the cost of shipping. Look up Sportco and Outdoor emporium online and West Marine.

mount it to a 2x4 and bolt that to the bow bracket.

The scotty anchor roller/lock is excellent for a 14' aluminum boat. Used mine with a 15 lb anchor with 10' of heavy chain in the salt, 14' G3/25hp yami very durable and works very smooth. Also used it with a 20 lb river anchor a lot fishing silvers in the upper snohomish. I've used it for a step and commonly lift the whole boat with it. I was skeptical when I bought and installed it but it's taken a lot of abuse over the past 7 years and still works flawlessly.
