Transom saver on a driftboat - 01/08/11 11:55 PM

About to put a 9.9 Merc on my Clackacraft. Do I need some sort of a transom saver? The boat sticks out from the trailer quite a bit so looking for some options.

Thanks

Don't mount the engine until you launch.

Yep, I believe that if you check with Clackacraft they will tell you the same thing. Structurally, it is not good to have that weight bouncing around back there on a glas hull.
Also, don't use an over-center or ratchet type hold down strap on a glas boat. Use the rubber band.

People do the opposite, but not with Clacka's blessing the last time I checked.

Thanks for the advice.
I will take it.
Last thing I need is a damaged transom.

Make sure you don't fall for the old "pick up the soap" trick.
