Mr. Heater Questions - 11/06/11 11:14 PM

I just purchased a Distribution Post (3-way) and was wondering if anybody is running heaters off of this set up and if so can you run any of the Tank-Top Heaters besides the MH15C? What Tank-Top Heater would you recommend for use in both camp and in the Drift Boat? Is a 2 burner overkill in the DB? Is the single burner enough in camp for just a few folks in forks during winter?

Thanks!!!!!!

I don't know about the distribution post but I do know a little about the single burner. In open space the single burner is only effective within a small radius, 3-4ft I'd say when the temps are below 40. Most of the heat goes straight up, the bell doesn't do much to project the heat out. If you can fit the double burner in your DB, get it, you can always turn it down if it is too hot. The double will be much better in camp than the single.

In camp I would opt for the bigger heater.
In a DB I like a plumbed-in single up front and you could also run a single in the back, either plumbed-in or on a 1 (or 1.5) gallon tank.

My low-pro 1 gallon tanks were nice until I had to put those new friggin valves in them.
Knocked them down to .7 at best.
I would buy the 1.5 these days even though I don't like the shape as well.

I've had 2 Mr Heaters. Both quit working after a year of so. Pilot would go out, then the heater would shut down. Re-start, repeat, repeat, repeat. Customer service was not at all helpful. Even when they were working , they were not and ideal boat solution in windy conditions.
