I'm pretty sure you were returning fire at us in that pic. I was shooting whole russet potatoes that day. Haha. I'm scaling it down this year for accuracy.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 10/31/1203:16 PM
Remember to list your team name and members so we can keep the list of teams at the top current! Still need a few more commitments for the Bogey house.
Oh and if you haven't heard "TEAM SKY VALLEY SUCKS!!!!!"
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/01/1208:13 PM
Team Sky Valley will be there. And....yes ...we "sucked" last year to the pro's & a 'ho but don't forget that we won 2007, 2008 and placed 2nd in 2009 & 2010.
The team is still a work in progress but be worried....
Dogfish.....just buy a red Corvette....relax and name your team after a consult with the roosting girls on your turkey coop.
58Bantam...WTF...you're a local boy why all the hate...
Oh; Mreyns, Mark do you remember you have caught the dinkiest steelhead ever entered into any competition....ever...ever...
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/01/1209:30 PM
team Alpha Kenny Buddy will see you there Beezer. Sky Valley Boys aren't so bad....and if that comment brings more punishment my way from the other teams, I welcome the battles! Muhahaahahaha. we're gonna be raining spuds on all you b!ches!!!
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/02/1212:29 AM
And damn proud of it beezer, but the credit for that one really belongs to uncle Rico his handy net work is what counted I'm more proud of my twin-tailed summer run
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/02/1209:26 AM
I think team Sky Valley will have it together again this year. I have been reading about this new twichin technique and bought the video, I am expecting 20-30 fish with this technique and we will blow everyone away.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/02/1211:59 PM
That split tailed steelhead (was it one?) was the funniest looking fish I've ever seen. I used to have some good pictures of it. I'll have to dig some.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/03/1206:24 PM
Damn-it.
Mrs. Twitch will be nearing burst stage around that time. Probably shouldn't be 9 hours away. She'd be pissed if she had to drive herself to the hospital.
Ya'll have fun. And if you're riding with Andy, try not to flip over backwards in your seat as he pulls away from the ramp and tries to dodge a pissed-off local. You can't help him avoid the other boat when your feet are pointed at the sky and your head is on the rowers foot brace.
And don't forget, hard boiled eggs make great close range egg spackle out of a tater gun
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/09/1210:33 AM
Steeliedrew, you are just like a high school kid about to get it for the first time...you are so excited you blow before she ever gets started. Us vets know how to start slow, control ourselves, let everything build up until everything is just right and parties involved are thoroughly included, the BOOM!
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/09/1212:09 PM
Quote from steeliedrew..."oh, I almost got this bra strap undone...I'm going for it (slight uneasy feeling), oh no! Not already!" as he goes down in shame.

Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 11/26/1202:00 PM
Dee is in with you guys Andy and will also be staying at the house. Looks like Stam, Merg, and ??? are in also. Wow! The Legend sure knows how to put a target on himself...roflmao!
Looking forward to seeing you all and TEAM SKY VALLEY SUCKS!!!

Updated list of teams: Team Two guides and a Boat Ho Team 3 White Guys who lost an Ornamental Team Lowhole Team Alpha Kenny Buddy Team Midlife Crisis Team Sky Valley SUCKS!! Team Tgl Team Diawa Team Tyee Charters Team Target(aka Team Legend)
I am thinking with Merg and "The Legend" in the same boat there may need to be a resurrection of the infamous POLE and a couple hotties to "work" it!

I should have rowed down river to chase the fish but we dropped the hook and tried to be all incognito while fighting the fish as to not start a net battle. well, that fish spooled us in less than 10 seconds. point of this story is I think we're handicapped enough with having to use 2' rods with tiny, plastic spin caster reels. haha! BTW for those that don't know, snoopy rods play a plug very well and are plenty sensitive for side drifting.

Getting ready.....
Gots me a rod that lights up with fancy LED's along with good ol' Mickey. You guys are fooked.
Even took the hard hat that Dee donated to me last year, and "upgrade" it a bit. Shouldn't go thirsty this year, as the cammo wading belt holds a sixer in relief.
Got the scope dialed in at the "Merg" setting.
Nothing personal Merg. All SRC newbies, especially the one's that love to make a show on the board, seem to get the most taters shot their way. I recommend either a hard hat, a riot helmet, or a metal garbage can lid.....
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/03/1202:36 PM
canyongirl, you are really asking for it. team Alpha Kenny Buddy will be making it a point to stay within spud range. see you arseholes on Thursday. Muhahaahahaha.

Of course, we'd just end up hooking a ton of fish around the normal Bogi plunkers and end up pissing them off, too!
I'm waiting for the 1st Annual SRC Plunking Event!
29 SRC rods all lined up on the bank plunking away (Merg's still gonna be twitching jigs from the bank during this time), fire roaring, whiskey flowing, BS really flowing. Actually, that sounds kinda fun....
Might have to change the "free for all" rules if it comes down to a group plunking day. No spark plug throwin' bell ringer stands a chance.....if 30 guys all dog-pile on the poor SOB who's rod got hit!
I almost feel sorry for any birds, wildlife, or anything floating down the river that would happen to come across this group. 15 spud guns, 300 pounds of potatoes, 18 cans of propellant, a lot of pent up aggression/frustration and Sky-Guy not there to shoot at!

Paker,
If this thing turns into a plunking show this year, Romulus, Edgar and I are going to be mighty WIZZEDOFF that Team Beaver Bratz and a Cracker didn't enter this year. BTW, If you happen to see us sleeping it off down on the Goodman Mainline throw another faggot on the fire and don't bother waking us. We'll catch up with ya later back at the sweat lodge.

and she's up, up, and away....pretty sure she was around 27.5' last year during the derby. currently 4' higher than last year. Guess I'll be buying more potatoes to keep me occupied on the river.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/04/1203:38 PM
Steelieprespew,
That's perfect...you fire spuds while the rest of us catch fish! Try or don't try...either way neither the fish or anyone else participating will be in any danger! roflmao

P.S. SKY VALLEY SUCKS more and more the closer Snoopy day gets!

DF, we did some extensive testing. The above Suave product beats Aqua Net Super Hold.
Get some luminous light sticks at the Dollar Store (or wherever) and give the gang some early morning fireworks. Here's how...
1. Activate a light stick 2. Cut the top off. 3. Charge the spudgun 4. Pour some magic juice down the barrel (about a 1/4 of a normal length light stick) 5. Ignite 6. Try not to pee your pants

Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/05/1212:16 PM
Friday the Bogi should be in perfect shape. I am jealous as hell. Stuck working till next Tuesday. Rained my whole week off. After years of testing I have determined that straight gasoline in a spray bottle is the best accelerant for spud guns. Hair spray can foul your igniter. Depending on the size of your ignition chamber 1 to 3 squirts. Adjust your sprayer tip to atomize as much as possible. Several hundred yard kill box with an awesome report. Child tested, adult approved. Try it you'll like it. Fuggin crazy azz steelheaders. I just don't understand us. Freezing our sacks off in the sleet snow and rain. Driving hundreds of miles in a day through storms with no sleep, just to go chase over sized trout. And now you guys decide it's an even better idea to get wasted the night before to where your either still drunk or continueing your drunkeness or hung over as hell, while fishing for these majestic fish with toy fishing rods, shooting each other with any non lethal projectiles available. Playing bumper boats and stealing each others trophy winning fish. How frikkin awesome is that!!! Looking forward to the reports and Carnage videos. Hope you kids find some 3 salts. Good luck, Be safe and make us all proud!!!
PS Merg should have to twitch any of his fish for them to be considered for any prizes.
Disclaimer: gasoline and ignition sources are a dangerous combination. Try at your own risk

well, one of my minions just bailed on us last minute. Me and Jermz can't foot the bill for the trip with just the two of us and its too short notice for any of our other buddies to go. So after all my sh!t talking I'm not going......
I know, I know....this is extremely anti-climatic. I'm not happy about it.
I just bought 100lbs of potatoes last night. Anyone that wants to swing by tonight or tomorrow can take em. send me a pm if you want them.

This is something that I must try. Always some Coleman fuel around camp. Should produce a nice muzzle flash. I think I'll use the gonad shield during this particular testing regimen.

"Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill."
I'm beginning to understand the meaning of this statement more and more as I grow older. Fawk, I'm 46 now. Time for a mid life crisis. I'm buying better toys, I'm getting nearer the end of my life (sure I am, keep thinking that), I really don't have a lot to prove, nor do I really care if you think I'm cool.
Lets just say that I have more weight in mayhem loaded for this weekend than I do in fishing gear.
Kids these days? (spoken in the tone of my Dad, the retired school teacher.)

Mebbe add a NOS bottle if the first series of tests goes well.

Wow, Drew cowgirls up! This could actually get interesting if she hauls in a 3 salt. But something tells me this might be the last time she's ever going to let him fish with you guys.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/07/1208:30 PM
the wife landed her first steelhead today. Well, first 3 I should say. Haha. We went 3 for 4 on plugs. I lost the first one and she reeled in the other three. epic day. Pics to follow.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/08/1209:51 AM
here's the story and pics.
We didn't touch a fish from the hatchery down to just above Wilson's which was where our luck changed. We were the first boat down so I decided to just anchor up in a strategic spud launching location and set the plugs out. I put a lindy orangeade out on the inside rod and a doctor death tadpolly out on the outside. About ten minutes in, the inside rod goes off and we had a hot fish on. After 4 jumps it was off at the boat. So we set the plugs back out and a few minutes later my wife's rod goes off. After a little bit of coaching she was playing the fish like a pro. With no other boats in sight we landed the fish. set the plugs out again and minutes later the wife's rod goes off again. she reeled that one in and then the other boats showed up. we got a good shower from T-birds boat and a spud battle from all angles began. We decided to slide over to the take out but not before backing the plugs down river a few feet. the wife's rod goes off again and I dropped the hook. As she's playing the fish I tell her to not worry but the sky valley boys are coming in hot with the net out. she horsed the fish to the net just before they got in net range and we had our third fish.
A cold and bored wife:
A happy wife with her first ever Steelhead:
An even happier wife with her 2nd ever Steelhead:
A wife that's hooked for life with her 3rd ever Steelhead!:
Look at that hook job!:
A day to remember:
Got crafty with the spud gun this year:
I love it when the fish box looks like this!:
We had a great time and can't wait for next year. I think I've found a teammate that won't bail on me.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/08/1202:25 PM
thanks everybody. I think she finally understands my insanity towards steelheading to some extent. I'm gonna take her on a few more floats this winter. I'm excited to see everyone else's pics. post em up.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/08/1209:51 PM
post em up. I'm anti Facebook. haha. anybody get any video of our last fish when Beezer rammed his boat into mine? That was an exciting fight with all you guys hootin and haulering from the bank. luckily the wife was able to get the fishes head out of the water and slide her towards the net. I was extended as far as I could go to make the stab.

Too much of that and you will be getting the big V at the next high water.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/09/1202:47 PM
The 2012 Snoopy Rod Classic was another success! Thanks to all who came out to participate and to donate to a great cause! We ended raising damn near $3,000 for the Gracy Family!
As always, Dee and I had to sneak out on the river on Thursday to see if there were any fish around for us to catch on Friday. The river was really high and for a day where the forecast didn't call for much rained, it rained and rained and rained and rained some more on us. The river rose at least a foot and the fish where not cooperating.
Well, maybe not ALL the fish....
Uh. Wonder what could be on the end of that white TETHER line sitting in a side channel in the Dimmel Drift?
The annual SRC Pre-Func was held at the Bogi Rental House on that Thursday evening and as always, there was plenty of good people, food, booze, Redington goodies, stories, and shenanigans galore! A good time was had by all, and maybe a little too much for a few others. Some nice hangovers greeted us on Friday morning at the cafe for breakfast!
On the water Friday morning at Oh-My-Gawd-Dark-Thirty and at 7:00 I fired off my tater gun to get the 2012 Snoopy Rod Classic Started!
Oddly enough, I was hooked in to a fish at 7:01. Landed at 7:01.30. Pretty sure that's a new SRC record! A nice 7.3 pound fish that ended up taking 2nd place. Of course, a 2nd place fish and $4 will get that winner a latte at the latte stand.
The Dimmel drift was a tad slow, but there were some fish to be found, and find them I did!
In between casts or fish, I was firing off the Zombie Tater gun and damn near killed TBird and Mreyn! Almost felt bad on that shot that hit a tree branch right in front of them causing the potato to break up, hitting both TBird and Mark in the back and head. I swear I lobbed that shot guys...
At some point, Dogfish and his team of NOFISH and DEE moved in side of us and we hear "Save Dora!" We look over and a floating Dora rod with a nice Dr. Death Tad out in front of it was bobbing in the river. I guess Dora wanted to go Exploring and Dee obliged. First time someone has casted a rod in to the river without a fish on the end of the line! Dora and the Tad could not be saved and ended up getting sucked in to a log jam. RIP, Dora!
I managed to hook and play on a fish in front of Team Dogfish and by the time they realized I had something on, it was over. Nice little chromer for Team 2 Guides and a Not-Really-Worthless Boat Ho, as I was up three fish at this time.
Catching fish and shooting tater guns is SERIOUS bizness. Try not to smile......
At some point, Bob put a plug over the side and as the three of us were picking our noses and not looking, the rod folded over and a massive derby winning 3-salt rolled on the surface with Bob's plug in it's face! A nice roll on the surface and it spit the plug back at us! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Bored of Dimmel and knowing that we had to be at the take out by 3:00, we bailed and proceeded to drag some rags through the top end of the hatchery drift right in the middle of a bazillion people. Of course, a fish grabs Carl's rag and it's GAME ON! The fish does a strange head shake and Carl's line goes slack. Damn! We lost it! The fish comes up and jumps just to show Carl what he lost......as Bob looks over and sees that Carl's line is swimming up river! It's still there! Out comes the nets, out come the name calling from the bankies and we're putting on a fish-on show with Snoopy rods in front of 75 bank anglers! Carl couldn't handle the pressure and proceeded to lose the fish in front of everyone....which brought out plenty of laughter, confusing, swearing, and the usual sort of stuff when one loses another good fish on a Snoopy Rod.
Not any more action for us the rest of the day! A few good potato wars with Dogfish's crew and that was it.
At some point, I was wet, cold, hung over, snot dripping down my nose....so I just started drinking, Snoopy Rod Classic Style!
There was a pretty good mele going on at the boat ramp with boats getting potato's shot at them at a furious pace and Steeliedrew and Mrs. Drew hooking a ton of fish within sight of the ramp! CONGRATS to Mrs. Drew for being the only female to actually catch/hook/land some steelhead on a Snoopy Rod! Major kudos for evening showing up, letting alone fishing and catching something! Drew get's some bonus points for that! Even NOFISH caught a fish on a Snoopy Rod! Good times!
At some point, Team Tbird drift past us and power-douched Bob. As we eventually caught up to them, my tater gun's battery died, so I resorted to hand-throwing potato's at them. At one point, Mark hucked a tater my way that was easily catchable....so I took off my helmet to attempt to catch it. I did.....but the tater ripped the helmet out of my hands and they it went flying in to the river! So, Direct-Drive...while the helmet wasn't shot off my head, it was ripped out of my hands! Kinda hurt, too! I hucked tater back at Mark who did use his hand to try to catch it. Apparently that really hurt and maybe wasn't the smartest idea.
At the ramp, all the boats finally came in, the fish were finally all weighed, some more BS was flying and it was time for the 2012 Snoopy Rod Classic Group Shot.
While Chad was nice enough to slap me upside the cheek and ear with a fish tail, I made sure I was not getting spooged on from above. That's more a Sky-Guy kinda thing.
Interestingly enough, I think almost EVERY person in this photo was wearing a brand new pair of Redington CPX zippered front waders! Redington sure makes a kick-ass set of waders! I highly recommend the Redington waders. Yes sir, Redington. Can't say Redington enough.
In the end, Team TBird (TBird, Mreyn, and Nate) pretty much kicked our asses. They took big fish honors, Team Award honors, and the mystery weight fish. Yeah, they took home the trophy, the jacket, the rod, and all the prize money.
Congrats to Team TBird!
TBird is all smiles after getting the Team Trophy!
Kev did an outstanding job of MC'ing the event at the mexican restaurant and here we are presenting Mark the coveted Green Snoopy Rod Jacket for the Big Fish Award. The winning fish was 7 pounds 12 ounces, I believe. CanyonMan looks thrilled.....
Team TBird showing off ALL the goodies......
The only thing Mark and Team TBird didn't win was an Lamiglas Ti rod donated to the cause from Three Rivers! This was a $500 rod that we were all droolling over.
The night before...before Chad passed out and rallied, he was going on and on about how we could all just "suck it" because he was winning the rod.
Uh.....
He won. Of course.
So......his sign says it all!
Again, thanks to everyone who was involved, donated, and participated in this year's Snoopy Rod Classic!!!!! Big thanks to Three Rivers for the rod!
Unbelievable BIG THANKS to Redington for stepping up to the plate this year.

Good recap there Parker. I'm gonna have to sneak in under the cover of darkness next year and steal any fish you guys tethered from the day before. Haha. Me and the wife are still laughing about when you tried to catch the potato in your beer helmet. I'd say good times were had by all this year.
Re: Official SRC 2012 Info and Smack Talk Thread! - 12/09/1211:31 PM
I also wanted to thank everyone who participated and like I said at dinner, I'd like to get some of the "Old blood" back in the water with us next year. I'd also like to raise the bar and try to bring in $5000 next year. I have some ideas that I will be working on with Bob, Corey, Parker and Canyon Man. I think we can make the SRC a greater event and give back to the people in Forks! Thanks again to all who help put this together, HUGE thanks to Mark at Redington and Neal for pulling off the wader deal. Big thanks to Three Rivers Marine, the rod donation was beyond expectations, thank you to all! I had a great time catching up with some old friends and making new ones. The people are what this event is all about, I hope to cross paths with you all on the water someday...soon.

In addition to REDINGTON, I want to thank Bob/Parker/Canyonman/Kev for that voodoo that they do so well every year. Also a huge thank you to my teamates Dogfish and Dee for helping me kill the SRC skunk on my 5th SRC And thanks Seastrike for the use of your battleship in your absence
I took some pic.'s to share..........the pre-funk at the house was a great time as usual, (thanks for handling all of that Scott ), but this oldtimer headed for the pillow when these poker faces came out
Bright and early Friday morning, Parker greets the SRC'ers launching with spud projectiles. and Carl shines a bright light in everone's face so they can't walk their boat up into the Dimmel (that was good Carl ;))
Standard Snoopy Gear
If any of you ever get the chance to ride in the SRC with Dogfish the multi-tasker extrordinaire, DO IT!!! He packs an arsenal, if you look close there are at least 5 WMD's in this pic......and when he says "DUCK", don't ask why, JUST DO IT
I have to hand it to Team T-Bird.....they had one super soaker on board, and they douched everybody to the nines. Rumor has it TRBO took enemy fire without his rainjacket on, and even Team Tyee Charters a.k.a. Switzerland, a neutral party to the war effort, got douched.......

Better read the rules, Merg.
4. Rods must be kids cartoon type rod, (1-piece) have only 2 eyes/guides on rod. Zebco rods match the specs (Snoopy, Tweety, Taz, Mickey, Minney, Sponge Bob, etc.). Rod and reel must not be modified; the original reel that came packaged with the rod must be used. Existing line can be exchanged for new line that MUST be monofilament, 10 pound maximum test allowed, no braided or Dacron lines.Only two rods are allowed per angler. No other non-qualified snoopy type rods are ALLOWED on one's possession or boat during the SRC. Possession of a non-qualified rod is grounds for instant disqualification of the SRC. Past SRC Champions may use the TH Snoopy Rod they won, however reels must be of the cartoon type, like the reels used on the Zebco Cartoon Rods.

you should have gambled for sure. Even with the rain, hail, and wind every boat hooked fish.
