I doubt very very seriously that it will ever be done.
Money will control and Frankenfish are a far better return on investment.
Somewhere someone is thinking, "I'm not wasting resources on little, slow-growing fish when I can produce large, fast-growing fish."
May not happen here......but it damn sure will elsewhere......right or wrong.

If cloning interests you check out the work that Craig Venter and his crew are up to in this TED talk: http://www.ted.com/talks/craig_venter_unveils_synthetic_life.html

Very interesting!!

Hard to imagine where all this might lead, isn't it?

Quote:
By sequencing a genome, scientists can begin to custom-design bootable organisms, creating biological robots that can produce from scratch chemicals humans can use, such as biofuel. And in 2010, they announced, they had created "synthetic life" -- DNA created digitally, inserted into a living bacterium, and remaining alive.
