Yes, The Derby includes the Snohomish, Stilly and Skagit rivers, Marine areas 8.1, 8.2, 9, and 10. All areas open to Coho fishing in King, Snohomish, and Skagit counties.

We usually give a prize for the biggest fish weighed in fishing from shore.

Should be fine. Lots of volunteers there to direct traffic, and keep things moving. The Port of Everett opens up lots of extra space for this event. Good Luck!

I'm sure the salt will kick a few butts; it's blowing N20. Trolling will be interesting. Drifting and jigging may be the way to go, with this wind one can cover almost as much ground.

First day leader, Lillie Ludwig 11.63 pounds. Second, Kevin Russel 10.12. Only two fish weighed in over ten pounds, very unusual! Several hundred fish weighed in.

Gary Hamlin weighed in a Coho of 11.96 to claim the 10K first prize. Almost 2000 adult entries weighed in over 700 fish. Average fish weighed 6.2 Thanks to all that participated in this years Derby.

Chuck S

I'm afraid we are trending towards the Coho being smaller. I fished one of the coastal river systems last year and saw a lot of fish in the 8-10 lb range. Very few low-mid teens. No upper teens. Talked to a local guide who said that is what he saw all season. Previous 5-8 years it was nothing to see 15+ lb Coho.

Talked to WDFW biologist for that system and he said Ocean conditions play a major factor.

When I started fishing that system 25 years ago the Coho were small. Then one year they jumped in size and have been that way for a # of years.

I don't have the young mans name (can't remember it), but it was a good friend of mine's (he fished the derby with me) daughter's old boyfriend. He lives in Monroe

The young man had entered his blind six month old daughter at the Edmonds derby in a special category for disabled kids. His name was drawn while he was at home watching the Hawks game, a buddy of his called him to say he won the boat, he didn't believe the guy, but then he was called by someone from the derby and found out it was true.

He raced down and was presented the boat, he was very exited to say the least. Great kid, couldn't go to a nicer person.
