East-side fishing

East-side fishing - 09/16/14 12:44 PM

Finally starting to cool down over here, and the change is very welcome! Most of my fishing this summer has been strictly on the east side of the state.

Doing lots of drift fishing, from bank and boat, small offerings of bait with small amounts of lead. Tick tick tick, chomp-chomp, set the hook, fish on! Love to feel them pick it up and chew on it. Especially when its a hot native summer hen!

Bring on fall, I'm ready for cooler temps and shorter days!

You just can't go anywhere without ending up in the water.

Nice fish.

Great pic !

We've been bustin' (and getting busted) some nice ones on the Lower D.
Caught the prettiest, color plate-worthy, Chinook on Saturday.
Perfect specimen, about 15 pounds.
And then another Chinook...big one. Nasty net marks...he swam off well.

September is the month.

Whilst fishing in a lower Columbia trib I too noticed a large sample size of fish with some pretty nasty net marks as well. Even released a few that we're so tore up you could not tell if the fish was once sporting an adipose or not. We always make it a priority to release these fish ASA effing P. But I wish I had a pics of all of them just the same, for evidence sake, the damage we do, sad....

What keeps bringing me back to the east side of the state is the wild life and great scenery! We are quite lucky, one just has to look around!

We got within 15 feet of this little doe

Even saw a black bear swim across the river and greet us one morning!
Wow!

Almost time to head further east if you're up for it this year (and I can get out).
