Grundens Winter Fishing Outerwear

Grundens Winter Fishing Outerwear - 10/22/14 11:16 PM

I picked up a boat big enough to brave the winter months in search the elusive blackmouth. In anticipation of some wet days on the water, I am looking at Grundens rain proof jackets and bibs. I don't think I will be working too hard, so breathability isn't a huge issue for me. Mostly trying to layer up and stay dry when outside of the canvas top. What models do you guys use while trolling when it's cold and wet?

Hercules bibs, hooded Brigg jacket w/ recessed neoprene cuffs

There is NO equal.

Grundens Petrus bibs. Layer underneath as needed. The Hercules are much more restrictive and not necessary for any weather or fishing conditions you'll encounter in Washington.

What Doc said.

Marino wool + fleece + Grundens and you're good to go.

One word of caution regarding the recessed neoprene sleeves though. Be very careful with those when using a knuckle buster on a hot king. I damn near broke a thumb once when the reel handle caught the cuff-Ouch!

Cabela's makes pretty nice insulated guideware for the winter.

Sh!ts expensive.

Have you checked out Stormr gear? That's on my list for my next set of cold weather outerwear.
