Lowrance GPS Antenna

Lowrance GPS Antenna - 07/27/15 11:18 AM

While fishing off of Neah Bay last week, I took a power hit that knocked down the Lowrance lms-337c , Fishfinder and VHF. I am not quite sure what happened.

At any rate everything came back on, but now I get a message "GPS Module not Responding" . At this point I suspect the antenna.

Does anyone have a similar Lowrance setup I could plug into to see if it is the antenna?

If anyone is looking to part with a chartplotter, I may be interested.

Please help save the Sea Kitten

Thanks

Go for the connections first. Loose or bad your toast. Looked around the net and this link is representative of the results. http://www.thebassbarn.com/forum/9-tackle-box/109176-lowrance-problem-need-help.html

The Hull Truth (THT) board has a lot of discussion also. Mostly EC & the Gulf folks but problem stays the same.

dazed and confused, the fog is closing in!

I hate the fog.

I have traced the power source back to the 3amp fuse. That goes to another fuse block and those are all good as well. Perhaps I will try looking again, but still hope to locate another antenna to hook up to.

I have one I recently took off my boat as the newer Lowrance units have an integrated antenna. I could loan it to you to test. Send me a PM to arrange. I work in downtown Seattle.

Jeff-
If your GPS puck is a LGC 2000...you might be screwed unless you get lucky and find a replacement stateside. I have a Lowrance globalmap in my Arima and its a great unit with tons of all my waypoints on it, with the exact same error. These GPS pucks are known to fail. I've looked several times over the last two years for a replacement puck and cant find one anywhere except really overpriced used ones in China. uh, no thanks

The LGC2000 puck that came with my old 337 died a few yrs after getting it.....I "upgraded" to the 3000 which works fine(slightly quicker), just needed a blue to red cable. I believe those are the only 2 units that are plug and play....don't believe the 4000 will work with the 337. All this is available on ebay/out there for cheap. I"ve still got a 337 and a blue/red cable you could borrow if needed, but no puck(went with the Olympic). Good luck, Tom

Re: Lowrance GPS Antenna - 07/31/15 01:32 AM

If you are rigged like me, you have a fuse for the unit power, and a fuse for the network "T"(that the GPS plug is plugged into), if so, verify that fuse....and don't just look at it, test or replace. My brother in law has a new Furuno that I put in, and it's blown the fuse twice, and hopefully just has a bad power cord(arrived today). They all use a 3 amp fuse to hopefully save everything when one has a "power hit"......"Power Hitter".... wasn't that a football shaped thingy that I might have had in high school? Good Luck, Tom

Thanks for the replies.
I have a 3000 on hand now (thanks again!) and I have a red to blue cable on the way. I am sure hoping it works.

Hey, just checking if you've got it working. I realized that you may need to update the software if it's still working on the release version, as the 3000 didn't exist in 05(plugs went red in 06) and I looked and the newer release was in 07. I had to update for either the gps or the transducer as both had puked at some point. Tom
