2016 Halibut season? - 02/28/16 10:11 PM

Anyone know what the dates are this year and/or what changes will be coming down the pike? So far its only been rumors, anyone have any info on the subject? I am mostly interested in MA 6 but any info would be appreciated.

We are going to have 8 days in Puget Sound and at least 3 days on the North Coast (MA 3 and 4). The fishing days on the North Coast and Puget Sound will overlap in an effort to reduce the pressure on the launch sites.

Dates for Puget Sound May 7, 12, 13, 14, 26, 27, 28, 29

North coast May 7, 12, 14

The North coast will be closed the week of the 15th to evaluate the NC catch after the first 3 days. There is a chance, albeit remote, to re-open the 26 and maybe the 28 IF the quota hasn't been met.

For Puget Sound (MA 5 and 6-10) the Dept calculated that 5291 fish were landed in 11 days of fishing - that would be 481 fish per day hitting the docks in Puget Sound.
