outdoor camp at deep lake ELC

Can we fish? I'm scheduled to have students fish from the shore.

We do catch and release at Fifth grade outdoor camp. Will we be allowed to fish?

Where is the camp located? Only Deep Lake ELC I could find is in Eastern Washington

This is in Thurston County, Millersylvania State Park.

The Environmental Learning Center is on the far side of the lake From the park entrance.

Just got the following response from Gabe Madel, South Sound Fish Biologist


Deep Lake is still open to fishing and wasn’t affected by the closures. The link below lists all freshwater systems that are closed in Puget Sound

Thanks again for the sharing of information.

We did the catch and release on a blustery day. Only fish caught were perch, bluegill, and large mouth bass, released in the water along the shoreline.

Good to hear the kids caught fish. Our NOP PSA chapter held its annual Kids Fishing Day today. An estimated 1000 trout went home (2 fish per kid limit) today. Had the Sequim School District special needs kids out yesterday. They all caught fish - some pushing 4 lbs.... lots of smiles
