Summer Fun

Summer Fun - 08/01/16 01:49 PM

Gotta love summer.

This summer we haven't been hanging out in the usual crowded spots and things have really been looking up.

Packing into the hills, camping, and catching a few trout has been our mainstay.
Suitcases packed.

Now boarding seats 0-4.

Up, up, and away.

Squatting on Uncle Sam.

Thin air at 9500'.

Turquoise.

Yellow Rooster Tail every 3rd cast.

Just enough to eat.

Redneck Hot Tub.
Found it at an abandoned mine site. About 6 miles in.
A pipe fed the water from up stream to the tub. Steel plate under it, fire under that to heat the water, and even a drain pipe. Pretty damn sweet set-up.

When you get home nothing beats taking off your hat, kicking off your boots, and resting your feet.

The one day this summer we fished summer runs.
Kinda feels odd not to be down there frequently..................Kinda.

Blurry moon Pic.

What have you been doing?

Good stuff! Nice to see some fishing pictures. Maybe I'll throw some up later as it's been a good spring and summer. Thanks for sharing 2many!

Best thing i've seen at this hang out for a long time and my wife and I could have used a lift from those four legger's marching up Quinault Ridge last week. That and supporting the oil industry 40mi offshore have kept me sane in a world of pond jizz lately.

Did some trout fishing in Montana a couple weeks ago. Even took a few pictures. And then went wet wading with my camera in my pants cargo pocket. I have a new camera that is taking a trip to BC beginning this Friday.

Myass, Did you check that one spot out for berries?

Salmo, Hopefully you missed the fires in Montana.

I have older Canon elf with a waterproof case. Fits in the cargo pants pocket. It is what I take fishing, or hunting, for a couple of reasons. Besides the nice pictures the damn thing floats if dropped in the water. So, it is easier to find.

I think some of the newer ones are waterproof without the case but as long as this one works.

Great Pics! Wonderful way to spend a week it looks like!!!

July was busy. 4th of July weekend was at Westport for the ocean opener. Found the kings way out, and whacked them pretty good with the boy.

Mid July tuna at Westport...whacked a bunch of those.

Last week Nootka. Great trip, spotty catching as the outside ocean was very sporty. Found some fish though.

August is lots of work, then September is getting the boy a 2nd deer, and me a moose.

Re: Summer Fun - 08/02/16 08:01 PM

Summer came to a slow start for me just like for most others. My time on the water locally has been split from ascoting to hardware thumping, it also seems to be the older I get I fish solo with the dog more often as well. Fishing the local crik just gets busier and busier with less opportunity trickling in. Toff, Ryley, and I made it out shortly after the OFFICIAL Puget Sound River opener was announced.

Managed to ascot this one shortly after the the opener. Surprisingly had the run undisturbed most of the morning.

There's not too much that beats fresh fish harvested from you favorite fishery.

Great pictorial WDFW.

Those fringe fisheries(and family pack trips) can be just as much fun as those damn addictive s-runs.

Me, I'm still craving the addiction.

Kudos on finding a way to mix horses and fishing without anyone really knowing it's still fishin'

Time with the younglins is always the best. Been immersed the last week with my oldest brothers litter on the Kenai... mebbe share some pics when I get back

Glad to see many out there having fun this summer.

I've also been enjoying putting these to good use.

Running the reloads through boom sticks.

There ain't much safe with a few clicks here and there on the scope.
I'll post some hair pictures soon.
Enjoy the sun and stay hydrated.
Cheers.

Re: Summer Fun - 08/13/16 12:04 PM

Weird to say, but this is the most Kings I have ever caught in a summer. This is the 3rd year I have owned my boat, so I am getting it dialed I guess. 12 fish in 2 days fishing skunk bay, but all natives and a couple too small hatchery, limit at Sekiu and limit at swiftsure. Haven't fished that much but made the most of it. Hiking is next followed by a Tuna trip.

This is the Neah bay/Sekiu(due to bad weather)/swiftsure trip.

My boat is the Arima

and my favorite pic so far, which I already posted once
