I like this one WAY better than the other one.

Derek is a super-talented painter. Met him at the Sandy Speyclave back in 2011 when one of his rainbow prints graced the commemorative T-shirts being sold for the event.



His eye-catching work is abstract yet very life-like... especially when it comes to depicting a fish's eye. I really dig how skillfully he paints the light reflection and the meniscus of surface tension of a still-wet eye.

The new one is way better.
The first one they came out with made it look like the fish was getting ready to shoot its load.

The first one was never ever in the running. It was just a place holder. There was another design that was being considered, a pair of steelhead in a natural setting. However, it didn't meet WSDOT's night time visibility specs and was eliminated.

That's pretty cool!
