It's amazing how well a newbie kid can do if they don't start out with any bad angling habits.
A few weeks before this float, I handed him a Rainshadow rod, a Shimano reel, a 5 gallon bucket and had him practice with a bait caster out in the back alley every day. He's never used a spinning reel and has no problems correctly and accurately casting a bait caster.
Can't wait to get back out on the water with him! Doc - any openings for us?
Cool. Reminded me practicing casting a Winona in the back yard ss a kid. Was tough to hit the bucket but made me better when I moved up to better baitcasters.
