Try George's rod and reel repair, Yelm. 360-960-8643 . He moved from Lacey. Always has done great work. Bob R

You know, posting unconfirmed accusations about someone is pretty fu**ed. He discussed closing the deal on the move to Yelm in April so this move has been in the plans for quite a while. He is REALLY old and just had serious surgery in the last year or two. Come up with something real or stfu. Crap like that is libelous. Bob R

I asked around and a few other guys said they heard the same thing. Im not saying its true, but Im not giving him my money anymore. I hope its not. I heard it from someone who works in the fishing department at Cabelas in Lacey. They don't have a dog in the fight, so why would he lie to me?

If they know as much about gossip as they do about fishing and fishing equipment I wouldn't believe a thing. Because someone (and it sounds like one person) says something don't mean it's true. And how old is the "young girl"? If it's a young woman (different then girl) it's just bad behavior. Hard to say without BOTH sides of a story. To imply (and you did more then imply) immoral behavior and trash someone's business reputation I'd have to have more then that. Bob R

George has worked on my reels in the past, and he does a good job.

Sadly, it's true that he got in trouble this past year. It was in the Olympia area local news. It involved an underage girl in the extended family. George made some kind of plea deal according to the newspaper. I don't know what the final results were. I'm not trying to damage his reputation, but this was in a couple of news reports.

I had not read this, I guess he really did do this, glad it was at least clarified and not just " I heard this from a guy at Cabela's. Bob R

I wasn't going to bring up George because I knew about what had happened. Just looking for another recommendation.

Ollie Damons in the Portland area has always done me good. They moved their shop a couple of years ago out towards Gresham off I205 and I dropped off my reel and they mailed it back to me. Great service for a great price and they employ handicap workers. They don't charge state sales tax.

I also used to take my reels to George. Goes without saying that I no longer patronize his business since I heard about and then read about his situation.

If you take or send reels to Ollies be sure and ask about turn around time. It can take a while.

Heard good things about Brewer's work but would prefer to find someone in the Olympia to Grays Harbor area that does reel work.

Sounds like we all need to learn how to maintain our own reels. I'm looking to get started... Just as soon as I can convince myself it's more important than fishing. Probably some rainy day in November.

YouTube has some EXCELLENT video on both "level wind" and "spinning" reel maintenance.

I've been doing my own for 50+ years, most of my level wind are Curado's or Ambassadeur.....which are simple to work on. All my spinning reels are Shimano Stradic or Pflueger. Spinning reel are easy to work on!!!

Bump. One of my Curados took a dump on me and I’ve got a couple others that could use some attention.

I have a PM into Brewer but would be curious to hear other suggestions.

Sounds like Verle’s in Shelton does reels. Dropping mine there tomorrow, will report back with a review if anyone is interested.
