Has anyone heard anything about shuttles not being allowed to work the launch on the 7400 line on the nooch?

It is true, they're not allowed. It's been more than a month now.

I'd call Green Diamond...…

When you get an answer, you might want to post it here.....

I called Green Diamond.....

No turn around service will be allowed unless they "play by the rules"

Must have insurance, must do what Green Diamond requires of a "turnaround service".

The launch is open to the public, sounds like the way its going to have to be done.....like the old days:

2 rigs, park one at White Bridge.....take boat to launch, park rig/trailer, make float then go back to 7400 line, get rig/trailer and drive both rigs to White Bridge or Cross Over, load boat, go home.

Not a very good way BUT I'm thinking the present "turnaround crew" must have pissed someone off in Green Diamond.

I believe the contact between WDFW and Green Diamond is only 3 years...It'd be the xhits to again lose the whole access.

That sounds more believable than what I heard. It seemed a little far fetched which is why I didn't want to post what I had heard on here. Thanks

I don't think they like one of the local shuttle drivers.

are we not talking about mick? He is bonded and insured. not sure what else is needed because as far as I know no one is allowed to shuttle on their property. I cant seem to find why it would be an issue unless the timber company wants additional money. please do post what you heard

I don't think they want him up there.

Here's the skinny, from someone I fish with who used to run shuttles for Mick.

Green Diamond was very unhappy with all things recreational angler before they decided to shut down the old launch. The idiot who parked his rig in the kiddle of the road, blocking the gate across the 7400 bridge, was what broke the camel's back, but Green Diamond had been less than pleased with the shuttle services for a while. Apparently, some of the drivers were driving too fast on the 7400 road, which tears up the road faster and in one case nearly resulted in a head-on collision with a log truck. That's why they don't want shuttles running up there. It also sheds light on the fact that it might not be the best thing for your rig to have someone else shuttle it. Lots of trailer bearing-killing potholes on that road....

My concern with the new launch is the new road. To say it's "primitive" is a bit of an understatement. My guess is that it will require 4-wheel drive and a touch of insanity to navigate by the spring. Shuttles or no, that launch will be used heavily during steelhead season. Hope they make some improvements before then. Some sections seem like they need a lot more rock brought in.

I've driven in there, to the launch, twice.....and I made a post that the 1.2 miles from the 7400 line road to the boat launch was a tough go at that time, summer weather and no rain, IT WILL BE A REAL BITCH, DECEMBER ON, UNLESS THERE IS BIG DOLLARS SPENT ON THAT 1.2 MILES OF ROAD...….

Make access harder and fishing/hunting will improve.

It's really pretty simple.

Oh wait.......It's only about the money.
Scratch that thought.

Re: 7400 line boat launch - 10/03/18 07:05 PM

we fished 7400 to sutherbys on sunday. killed some fish and lost more. Coworker in the front seat had never fished salmon or steelhead before so there was many fish missed. but we prevailed and got him his first and second steelhead. Other friend and I both landed fish and missed a few. Road in the morning was good but was quite muddy on the way out. We floated to a mile above the takeout when we found out the turn around rigs keys were in my truck. So off he went walking and got picked up 2 miles into the walk. was a good day and were happy for someone picking my buddy up on the way back to my rig.
