Big Bar Landslide Fraser River update - 03/28/20 07:27 AM

Found this link yesterday on the Island Fisherman Magazine website. Work is progressing on the removal/re-structuring of the landslide that occurred last year on the Fraser River. A couple of links in the article will take you to pictures and more discussion of the work being done.

Thanks BB.

One sentence was especially interesting: "The plans include constructing a “nature-like” fishway, installing a pneumatic fish lift system, and developing a trap and transport option to collect salmon below the slide and release them upriver."[size:17pt][/size]

If that pneumatic fish lift system is the Whoosh system proposed for moving fish over dams on the CR it will be an interesting test.

They have a completely volitional prototype of the WHOOSH! up and running. If deployed appropriately, no human hands need touch a single fish. Even sorting hatchery vs wild.
