Gov Vetos and WDFW Budget: Millions in the toilet. - 04/04/20 11:25 AM

We've all seen the latest news about the Gov veto of budget items and WDFW 's recent crying and gnashing of teeth over its monetary shortfalls. Of course, we don't hear about the FAT that could be trimmed in top leadership salaries. (But, that's another topic)

Just want to let you know that on the front page of the April Edition of The Reel New's there is a letter which goes into detail about the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, AND POTENTIALLY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS that the Department has wasted to date on fighting against the citizens of this state to maintain it's culture of secrecy.

Very good read, and eye opening.

During this time of fiscal belt tightening, perhaps the Governor should take a hard look at the leadership of the Commission and the department and their decision making.

Here is a copy of the email that we sent to Commission Chair Carpenter, Dir. Susewind and CC'd JT Austin, the Governor's Senior Advisor for Natural Resources and Tribal fixer.

Chair Carpenter and DIrector Susewind,

We thought you might be interested in the front cover of the The Reel News.

As you might be aware, the Reel News is a premier sports publication with a readership of over thirty-thousand citizen sportsmen and women.

The letter covers the financial costs that the departments culture of secrecy has cost over the years.

As the department just completed a plea for funding, we find it ironic that hundreds of thousands, and potentially millions of dollars are being waisted in your efforts to fight against real transparency.

In addition to increases in media coverage, signatures on the citizen petition asking for an end to the public prohibition to transparency are continuing to increase daily, with over seven thousand to date.

Citizen Petition to Open WDFW/Tribal North of Falcon

It’s becoming clear that the citizens of this state are not OK with your continued silence, and ignoring the need for REAL transparency in the fisheries.
