Non-essential?

Non-essential? - 04/20/20 06:05 PM

Whoever thinks going out & catching fish or killing game is non-essential then they don’t know what fishing & hunting is. It’s essential. The state could have done a lot to keep the essential sport running but failed. Fishing is not the same as going to a movie, getting a haircut, or going to a party. It is essential. They should have kept everything open but closed areas with high traffic such as the campgrounds, makes more sense to get your food outside then going into a store. Get real, the covid is serious but so is packing the entire fishing/hunting group into costco, wal mart, etc. Would have made sense to tell hunters/fishers to lay off going to stores and try to stay away from people more outdoors. Everyone got the message but the message really isn’t that good.

godammit, your post is a breath of fresh air, never heard that angle before. I really wish you could capture that lightning in a bottle and take it to the next protest at the Capitol.

I understand that closing fishing and access to DNR land by the state was there attempt to protect the smaller communities along the coast from being overrun by people from the most populated and virus-infected. I heard that Forks actually put up signs that said get out. Mayors from Neah bay to northern California pleaded for help in March when this first began. Maybe the right answer would be to ban travel from hot spots like King Pierce and Snohomish counties. I do know that by shutting down fishing and camping they have definitely forced all of us in the most populated areas closer together for sure. Just go to your local Home Depot or Lowes and see the orgies going on. Unfortunately, I feel this fishing closure may be exploited by politicians and campaign money from the casinos. We just had a large amount of frustrated and scared people go to Olympia and plead for their Jobs back and all Jay had to say was [Bleeeeep!] you. That does not bode well in my mind.
