Line counter reel going knuckle buster? - 08/20/20 10:31 PM

Hey fellas, has anyone had a line counter reel or conventional reel go knuckle buster mode when trolling at Bouy 10 with heavy lead?

Had a conventional go knuckle buster on a YFT and DID NOT like it at all.

Makes me wonder how well the anti reverse bearing will hold up with all the weight of lead + SB + lure/bait + current.

Or am I completely off base?

It all depends on what reel we're discussing.

Hey Jody hope you’re doing well! To the original question, I have been running 500LC Tekotas on all 4 rods for close to a decade down there without a failure. Knock on wood.

i think shimano generally adds a backup anti-reverse dog(just like you'd find on reels before instant anti-reverse became the norm) just in case the bearing starts to slip.

in my experience, just about every reel with instant anti reverse will start to slip eventually. those things are finicky, they'll slip if they get too much lube, or too little, or from regular wear.
