PSA GIG HARBOR SALMON DERBY

Our 26th annual salmon derby will be held on 13 August covering areas 11 and 13. The award ceremony will be at Pt. Defiance Marina with lots of good prizes; some based upon weight and others via a ticket number raffle. Check it out on our webpage GIGHARBORPSA.ORG. Tickets may be purchased at Sportco, Narrows Bait & Tackle, Ace Hdwr Gig Harbor or through our webpage. Price $35.00 with kids 14 and under are free but everyone on board must have a ticket.

What are the weigh station hours? I may try to run up from Lyle Point if I land a larger Chinook.

Weigh-in station is at Pt. Defiance Marina with hours from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. sharp (cell phone time). Award ceremony there at 4:00 P.M.

That is at the Marina and not the ramp.....and you have to arrive by boat.

I would arrive by boat. Hans solo, not a problem.

If you were concerned about whether we will be able to fish MA 11 we are sure (well, almost sure) that the quota will hold out to allow derby fishing in both 11 and 13 so buy your tickets.

In addition to money prizes there are some great raffle prizes thanks to some of our local supporters to include two raffle grand prizes; a stay at Tyee Wilderness Lodge at Murder Cove, Admiralty Island AK and also a Lowrance unit. In short, if you buy a ticket and attend the award ceremony whether you catch a fish or not you can walk away a winner.

Good luck with the derby. I did not catch a keeper on the Ebb tide. Will be staying out in the boat to fish the evening Flood.

We picked up an #8 this morning. Pretty slow overall. We will be out for the evening bite this evening.

I'm guessing the thermal block has them staying up North? Or deeper?

No bite from the former Powder Dock to the Green Can.

My Grandpa retied out of Ft Lewis. My father taught at Kamilche School. I trolled an old wooden martin plug in pearl, pink stripe in thier honor.. I think it only had one glass eye. A dogfish at 60ft sent the remaining eye away.

Had a drive bye comment of nice boat after I took the canvas down. I said she fishes better topless...

Kudos to the people that make derbies happen.

Thanks and I say that for all of the volunteers and donors who make them happen. And not forgetting all of the folks who participate. Sorry you didn’t put a fish in the boat. The big fish was just over 18#. We also had lots of great prizes given out as a part of our raffle so anyone there who bought a ticket had a good chance of taking home a prize.
