Chum Scouting Take 2 - 10/29/03 10:17 PM

OK. This weekend I'm going to do the Chum Loop; Minter, Allyn, Johns, Kennedy, Perry, Mud Bay, etc. I'll try to stop at every creek that looks fishy and see if I see any fish. I might linger at one spot for a couple hours if the fishing is good too! I'll post a report of what I saw/caught on Sunday. Is there anybody else that will be going after some Chums this weekend? If so, please share you reports too! smile

A buddy of mine and I will be going out on Saturday. I am not sure yet whether we are going north or south of Seattle in our hunt, but I will report back.

A buddy and I hit the road with my little boat, and we first stopped at Purdy to check on (shhh!!!) Minter (shhh!!!) Creek. No fish yet. the water was completely void.

We then drove up to Chico creek, and dropped the boat in. We are glad we did, as the water was alive with fish, jumping, rolling, flipping their pectorals at us. It was amazing.

We threw everything at them-flies, bait, gear, and not one fish. But there must have been 1000 on the bay itself.

Sure, fish Chico, but bring a boat, the fishing is way better away from the mouth, it was a little crowded for my taste.

Got out today braving the snow and freezing rain. First stop was Minter (you didn't hear it from me) <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" /> but the tide was still a couple of hours from bringing in new fish and there where only a couple spooked ones in it. Next stop was another creek near by that looked very promissing if the tide was up, saw a couple more there. Then we drove to John's Creek and fished the incoming tide a couple of hours. There was only 5 people there. The shore was full of fish, one guy hooked into one but lost it. Then the fish dissapeared, not going into the creek. I think they shot up past the point and through the channel to the other two small creeks at the end of the bay. We then whent to Purdy Creek near Mud Bay and Kennedy Creek. Saw one fish swirl here but that was it. In all I think we need to wait another week or two for the South Sound.
