Kinda the ol' shotgun approach!

H2H,

OK, I'll bite. How many guesses do we get?

E F Nookachamps, Walker, and Cumberland come first to mind. But it's hard to scale the stream channel and those trees to better estimate the range of likely candidates.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

If you hadn't answered so quickly I would of said that creek. As that was or looked like as to where I did some fishing this fall. Like I said fishing ----no catching

I have fished it down low, in the middle before they closed off the road and I have been up high. I didn't know there was a falls on the creek. Gonna have to check that out. Liked the area up in the hills the best.

The picture was taken about 6 miles up Finney Creek Road.

The falls is about 200 yards down stream from where I took the pic from. The water up there is skinny, some places only 20 feet wide and over places 60 feet wide.

But a real nice area to explore!

Homer, I'd sooner expect to see Bigfoot, D.B. Cooper, and Osama Bin Laden sharing a flask and debating fly patterns on the bank of the creek than to see you up in a tree taking pictures!

Fish on...

Looks like the pic was taken from the one lane concrete bridge looking up stream. Am up there alot. As a kid we used to go up there and it was fantastic for trout but isn't as great as in the " good ol days" . Where do you throw in all the carcasses at out of curiousity?

Re: New Fishing Hole BUT where? - 11/29/04 01:53 PM

H2H,

Finney was one of my first guesses, but I didn't think you'd be carcass bombing that far upstream. Plus, the little gravel bar on the left bank wasn't something I rememeber being there.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Re: New Fishing Hole BUT where? - 11/29/04 02:36 PM

What is the purpose for pitching that high up? Does it help the trout and ll up there in addition to moving down stream?

Re: New Fishing Hole BUT where? - 11/29/04 03:23 PM

Over a hundred different plants and animals species depend on salmon to live, most of those from the nutrients released after the salmon has spawned and died. Hatchery fish, which return mostly to hatcheries and are not allowed to spawn in rivers, are not contributors to ecosystem health to near the level of wild fish.
