Knots - 11/10/05 04:12 PM
I'm looking for a knot to tie from tippet to fly that is easy to tie for an old man with shaky hands.
Jim
I usually use the Palomar Knot It is strong (slose to 100%) and as easy as an overhand knot with one more step. It does waste an extra inch or two of tippet, but i can still tie it with numb hands.
Of course I haven't been fishing for so long I may have forgot how to tie it so heres a link

PS There is an article in this months Saltwater Flyfishing that has some good knots like the Cooper for using a little heavier tippet, we have been using it on Tarpon and Snook flies for years never knowing what it is called.

Thank you but I think I found one that will work for me. It's called the Davy Knot.
I've tried a few that are out there but with shaky hands some that look easy are hard for me to tie. The end of the leader has a lot of movement on it so I try to tie as quick as I can.

Thanks I will have to give it a try; I had never seen that one before until I looked it up.

That Davy knot is like a figure eight knot.
