Islander AR2

Islander AR2 - 02/01/13 01:36 AM

Hey Fly Guys
I picked up an Islander AR2 (gold color) with a bag of other misc stuff at a sale recently.

I don't fly fish much (and certainly don't spey cast, not that there is anything wrong with that, if that is how you want to live. . .), so I don't have a lot of use for it.

With just a tiny bit of checking online, I have found a couple listed for $250 +/-. . ..
What is a used one truly worth (what someone is willing to pay, I know)?
And, is anybody on here interested before I put an ad in the classifieds here and elsewhere?

Input is appreciated.
Thanks

Boy the rumors about you fly guys being a bunch of snobs must be true. .. . or else none of you know [Bleeeeep!] about the particular reel I am asking about. .. .

Kidding, kinda .. . .anybody have any info??

All I know is Islanders are highly regarded but you don't see a lot of them around here.
I have now idea of the value.
Two suggestions.

Ask what the value is on the classified sections of Spey Pages.

Or call is guy and ask. He sells a bit of fly gear.

What size is the reel?

I think the AR2 is too small to be a spey reel, unless it were on a 5 or 6 switch rod...I don't think it's even four inches?

Fish on...

That's what I was thinking... Can't really find any info on that model.

Sorry, should have been more clear.
They move a ton of used equipment on Spey Pages, both spey and non-spey fly gear.
I was thinking someone there might be able to help you establish a value on it or perhaps want to buy it.

Thanks guys, guess I throw out an insult and go away for a week and I get some results .. ..

The reel is about 3 5/8" diameter at it's widest.

I will check out the speypages and see what I can find, thanks for the link.
